Ms. Mia A. Washington is an exceptional 12-year-old leader and accomplished 7th-grade student in Northern Virginia, where she resides. Her academic excellence is highlighted by her selection for three Honors Classes in Middle School: History, Science, and English, reflecting her dedication and intellectual curiosity. Mia’s achievements extend far beyond the classroom.

She is a dynamic young entrepreneur and a key figure in the operations of the United Crowns Mobile Museum of Black History & Culture. As a co-founder of the United Crowns Foundation, Inc., and the Vice-President of Youth Development for the United Crowns Mobile Museum of Black History & Culture, Mia is deeply engaged in both business and youth advocacy.

Her leadership is particularly evident in her role as the primary advisor and liaison for youth development, advocacy, activism, and outreach, where she plays an instrumental role in the development and design of the museum’s displays and exhibits. Guided by Chairman Fred Hampton’s powerful quote, “Words are Beautiful, But Actions are Supreme,” Mia channels her passion for Black history and culture into tangible, impactful actions that resonate within and beyond her community.

Mia's influence is far-reaching. As the Youth Vice President of the United Crowns Foundation, she mentors her peers, spearheads fundraising initiatives, and oversees marketing efforts for the nonprofit. In addition, she serves as the official photographer for United Crowns, contributing significantly to the foundation's sponsorship of The Genecoit Vertus School of Excellence in Petion-Ville, Haiti.

Her dedication to educating others about Black history and culture is further demonstrated through her extensive travels across six states, where she has welcomed over 8,000 visitors to the United Crowns Mobile Black History Museum. Working alongside her dad, Mia has been pivotal in curating over 1,000 Black history artifacts and memorabilia, spanning from the pre-Civil War era to the present day.

Outside of her philanthropic and entrepreneurial pursuits, Mia enjoys spending quality time with her family, including her three older brothers and two beautiful nieces. She is also passionate about playing travel volleyball, engaging in arts and crafts, and enjoying her iPhone and laptop. Mia’s love for her four beloved dogs further enriches her well-rounded and active lifestyle.

Mia A. Washington is a remarkable young leader whose actions speak volumes about her dedication to her community and her unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Black history and culture. Her involvement in the United Crowns Mobile Museum and her advocacy work continue to inspire and empower youth across the nation.
