"I'm Possible": A Tribute Event to Honor Ms. Kitty Black-Perkins

What an incredible, star-studded weekend! The United Crowns Mobile Museum of Black History & Culture, in collaboration with Upstate Circle of Friends (led by Toya Y. Moore), hosted a memorable tribute to Ms. Kitty Black-Perkins, the creator of the first Black Barbie (1980), in Spartanburg, SC. Over 270 people joined us for this impactful two-day event!

Ms. Kitty Black-Perkins is a trailblazing woman who has shattered glass ceilings and inspired Black girls and women worldwide. Mia kicked off Saturday's events with a powerful speech, sharing how her Black Barbies have inspired her and providing an overview of the United Crowns Museum of Black History & Culture, which was proudly on display.

We were also honored to receive a special donation from Chief Pierre Brewton, Spartanburg's first Black Fire Chief in its 239-year history. He graciously contributed his career-long fire helmet to our mobile museum. This moment was truly heartfelt and meaningful for our museum.

It was an unforgettable weekend, celebrating living legends and honoring the legacy of Black history.

Our VP (Mia) met the one & only Mr. Doug E. Fresh  Legendary Hip-Hop Artist) during one of our scheduled events.
